Mark A. Gardner, DO

Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Mark Gardner was born and raised in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. In high school, he excelled in sports and academics. He was offered a scholarship to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. At Duquesne, he played football for 4 years and earned a bachelor of health sciences degree in 2001. He gained admittance to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). In medical school, he focused on his studies graduating at the top of his class in 2005. He was also involved in the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) and intramural sports on campus.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Gardner completed a one year internship and four year orthopedic surgery residency program at Humility of Mary Health Partners in Warren, Ohio and Youngstown, Ohio. Upon completion of residency training, Dr. Gardner accepted a position with Parkside Orthopedics-UPMC. He has offices in Hermitage, Greenville, and New Castle. He has privileges at UPMC Horizon in Farrell and Greenville.

Dr. Gardner has a heart for medical missions. After Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010, Dr. Gardner partnered with a medical/surgical team from In His Image International. Dr. Gardner spent a week in Port-Au-Prince performing surgeries and ministering to earthquake victims. In 2011, Dr. Gardner joined a medical mission team in coordination with Hearts in Action. This mission provided medical and spiritual care to those in Peten Jungle, Guatemala. Most recently, Dr. Gardner traveled with a team back to a Haiti in 2012 to provide medical care through Missions to the World (MTW).

Dr. Gardner resides in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. He has a wife and three children. He enjoys spending time outdoors. His hobbies include fishing, boating, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
